All summer long I kept an eye out for free crochet patterns and sewing projects online. We had a chilly, rainy day last week so I pulled out the yarn and fabric stashes to see what would work with the patterns I've saved. It was a perfect way to get my mood lifted about the upcoming "dark" months! I made a list of things I still need to find and I've started a folder on my computer to help me check off projects and (hopefully) keep from getting as disorganized. The hardest part of the day came when it was time to pack all the yarn back up. The hook and needle bug has bit and now I'm ready for some stitching!
My first project is going to be some soap holders to place in some spa baskets I'm making for Christmas. I'll be using 100% cotton yarn to make the little pouches and I was thrilled to find some red and green yarn in my stash. I plan to purchase some local goat milk soap and mix up some homemade bath salts and lotions to finish out the baskets.
Then I'm going to work on some sewing. I didn't get the coffee cup cozies finished last year so I am making them a priority. I refuse to buy any material until I've got those done. Hopefully I will be able to sell some and make some seed money for next Spring!
What hobbies and projects are you looking forward to this winter?

Challenges are Good!
Yes, challenges are good. But this one is extra special because it comes with a reward! There is no greater feeling in the world than giving something away. So when I read about this "Handmade-Paying it Forward, 2012" challenge over at Let's Get Real- Life at North Forest Farm, I just jumped at the chance to participate! Since I was one of the first five to comment on her blog, I get to give away something that I made with my own hands to the first 5 people who comment on my blog accepting the challenge to PAY IT FORWARD. So if you would like to receive something handmade in 2012 by yours truly, be one of the first five to leave a comment that says you accept the challenge. Then YOU will get to make a handmade item to send to the first five who leave a comment on YOUR blog. Neat, huh??
If you are one of the first five to comment, shoot me an email at ramseytojo at gmail dot com with your mailing address so I can get something handmade delivered right to you in 2012!

That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
