Checking the Stashes

All summer long I kept an eye out for free crochet patterns and sewing projects online. We had a chilly, rainy day last week so I pulled out the yarn and fabric stashes to see what would work with the patterns I've saved. It was a perfect way to get my mood lifted about the upcoming "dark" months! I made a list of things I still need to find and I've started a folder on my computer to help me check off projects and (hopefully) keep from getting as disorganized. The hardest part of the day came when it was time to pack all the yarn back up. The hook and needle bug has bit and now I'm ready for some stitching!

My first project is going to be some soap holders to place in some spa baskets I'm making for Christmas. I'll be using 100% cotton yarn to make the little pouches and I was thrilled to find some red and green yarn in my stash. I plan to purchase some local goat milk soap and mix up some homemade bath salts and lotions to finish out the baskets.

Then I'm going to work on some sewing. I didn't get the coffee cup cozies finished last year so I am making them a priority. I refuse to buy any material until I've got those done. Hopefully I will be able to sell some and make some seed money for next Spring!

What hobbies and projects are you looking forward to this winter?
