The 6th Month

At the beginning of last year I shared this monthly checklist post. Looking at June, it's time to stock up on the things we buy twice a year- furnace filters, cleaning tools, trash bags, and water filters. How can we be halfway through the year already???

Earlier today I went out between rain showers to grab the eggs and check on the garden. The first zucchini was ready to pick- and I was not mentally prepared for that! It feels like it's only been a week since we planted. My plan was to put in another row of green beans before the first row bloomed. OOPS! They're going to be a little late but there is still time to get another harvest before it gets too cold. All I have to do is get. them. planted.

Our big summer project this year is fencing. We planned it all winter. The chicken pen is rusting out and needs to be bigger. And the pig/goat pen needs a gate where we didn't have one before. Also, a hog panel is leaning up against the chain link so that's got to be fixed. The size of the job isn't nearly as daunting as the fact that we haven't even got started yet! And it's June already!

Even though it's the 6th month, technically the year is half over on July 2. So if we buy everything in June, and get started on the summer project, we will be ahead of schedule! I don't know about you, but I like to be ahead sometimes! The next couple of weeks are going to be busy, but along with the stress will come that deepdowninmysoul satisfaction of progress. And I'll be ahead of the game for a little while.
