Where Did the Time Go?

Wow! It's been a while. Did you think I wasn't ever coming back? To be honest, I considered just closing up shop. It was very depressing to even think about writing. I went through a phase of pretending I wasn't a homesteader. In case you don't know the backstory, I've been unable to do a lot of the things I loved due to back surgery- no goats, no garden, no cooking, no spinning, etc... How could I write about those hobbies when I wasn't allowed to do them? I stopped reading other homesteader's blogs. I blocked all the homesteader pages and groups on Facebook. Even my Instagram went black. Sitting in my recliner (except for the occasional walk through my overgrown yard) and heating up Ramen noodles was my new normal. The highlight of my weeks was when my daughter came by to clean my house. I would get to visit with my grand baby on those days!

As my healing progressed, I was allowed to take on some of the light duty things around the house. I was also given permission to drive. I started spending a lot of time on the road with the HoosierHubby- sitting in hotel rooms and bored out of my mind. That all changed when HE fell ill in July. He underwent several tests and saw a few doctors trying to diagnose his pain but it wasn't until he had a heart attack last month that the cause was determined. Needless to say, it's been an experience for us to both be on light duty and home at the same time!

Faced with the possibility of losing our income, or returning to the road and being bored senseless, I started a new business. I'm not going to promote it here, just know that I've been very busy with start-up. Doing that has helped me to get my focus back on being productive! Now I have something to do!

At my last doctor visit, he thought I could possibly have all my restrictions removed by December. Yes! So in my spare time I'm mentally dusting off the spinning wheel and the canning supplies. Now that you're all caught up on everything I've been doing for the past 9 months, drop a comment about what you think I should do to kick start this next chapter in my homesteading journey.
