I love having a real Christmas tree. This is the second year we've traipsed off to a farm to pick out a tree. It's a bit of a challenge as our ceiling is low and the room is small. Real trees are bigger around than the artificial ones we're used to having. But we found the "perfect" one and I'm thrilled!
There are many advantages to buying a live tree, ecological being the biggest. When it's time to dispose of our tree, we have lots of options. We can feed it to livestock, donate it to a pond owner, put it out for the birds and other little critters to enjoy, or mulch it up. My old and broken artificial tree is still taking up space in the attic because I dread sending it to the landfill.
