My Reading Day

I'm not the sort of reader who can read a book in spurts. Nope, I have to finish it in one sitting, possibly 2 or 3 if the book is especially long. In my opinion, if a book doesn't suck me in for hours at a time, it isn't a good book! But sucking me in is not hard- I've been known to miss appointments because I didn't hear my name called in a waiting room. Yep, sucked right into whatever story is in the obligatory waiting room magazine. So reading is a luxury I don't indulge in often, unless you count the daily Bible reading with DH. I just don't have the time for it.

But! It's the weekend! It's cold outside! I have NOTHING to do! My Kindle is loaded up and calling my name! I reserved the whole day just for reading! Here's how it went....

First...I fed the critters and noticed the waterers were icky. Tomorrow's forecast calls for freezing rain so I have to get those cleaned out today...
When I got back in I tried to thaw out my hands in the kitchen sink, but where was my new bottle of soap? Oh yeah- I left it in a grocery bag filled with other stuff that needed put away....
And guess what else was in the bag? 10 heads of garlic I promised myself I'd roast today. So off I go to roast garlic...
where I notice the seasoning is wearing off my good cast iron skillet. The only way to fix that is to make cornbread in it and since the oven is using a ton of propane anyway I might as well bake some cornbread....
And didn't I want to roast up the butternut squash that was starting to look like it wasn't going to make it through the winter? So the oven timer is set for roasting...
while I'm waiting, I'll throw in a load of laundry...
But while I was getting the milk out of the fridge for cornbread batter, I found a half pound of sausage left from New Year's breakfast that needed used. I guess while the laundry is going I'll fry up the sausage for butternut soup...
Of course I'll have to wait on the squash to finish roasting to make the soup so I go back downstairs to throw the laundry in the dryer...
only to discover a load of dry towels I forgot in the dryer 2 days ago. So folding towels and putting them away had to be finished...
and guess how much reading I got done today?

Ah well, tomorrow is another day
