Apples Galore

We had a few stormy nights a couple weeks ago which resulted in lots of windfall apples! While DH was home I put him to work, collecting and peeling apples. For the collecting part, we spread a tarp under the trees and tossed all the fallen apples onto it and then we gave the branches a good shake to get the ripe apples to fall.

Peeling apples is one of those jobs that I just loathe. There is no way to make it better or easier when you're dealing with little apples. But DS#2 had a really neat antique gadget for peeling that DH just loved tinkering with. It took some time to get the hang of it and it was a slow job with our little apples but if it got him to do the chore, I was not going to complain at all! Yes, I know there are new fangled apple peeler/corer/slicers out there. But if using an old, heavy, American made tool gets my DH to VOLUNTEER to do a job...

...well that's good enough for me!
