While It's On My Mind-pet tip

I came home to a doggie disaster the other day.  I knew something was up when I walked in the door and no beagles were waiting in the entryway (tongues hanging out, tails wagging...) Nope, they were hiding out in the back yard, afraid to face the wrath of this Hoosier Girl who walked into a trashed kitchen. Trashed as in the trash can was empty and all of the contents that used to be in it were spread over the entire kitchen floor. UGH!!!
After I got the mess cleaned up, through the pet door came Chase and Daisy with their tails tucked between their legs. They absolutely refused to look me in the eye. Grrr. But I couldn't stay mad. Of course the whole thing was my fault. I usually take the trash out before I leave the house but this time I was in a hurry. And there was some tempting stuff in there. Don't ask me what the tempting stuff was because by the time I got home, they had eaten it.
But the tempting stuff which cannot be named did not sit well on Chase's tummy. So shortly after cleaning up the trash, I was following around a sick dog. And cleaning up something else. UGH!
Luckily, I had a can of pumpkin in the pantry. I don't know why pumpkin is such a good remedy for a dog's tummy upsets but it usually works. So I quickly fed him a tablespoon of pumpkin and stopped the yuckies. Now I have an open can of pumpkin that needs used up. Instead of baking with it though, I'm going to freeze it in Beagle sized batches for the next tummy emergency. While it's the time of year when pumpkin is readily available, I'm going to get another can to add to the freezer batches. While it's on my mind.
