Embracing Fall

We had a nice frost and had to turn the furnace on for the first time this fall. It doesn't make me sad, I'm a stay in the house and stay cozy, kind of gal. I mowed the yard for (I hope) the last time! I won't miss that chore at all!  But I will miss my garden.
Last of the fall garden- turnips

I've already started ordering seeds, and making charts for next year's garden. We inherited a huge stack of glass windows when we bought our place and I am going to attempt to make cold frames out of them next year-hopefully!
We didn't get the wonderful fall colored leaves on our trees this year, they mostly just browned up and fell off so I will be looking for a better show next fall! Right now, I'm enjoying football games, wiener roasts, and crochet-lots of crochet. I've already taken orders for 6 crocheted hats! We don't have a wood burner-wish we did- but there are some in our neck of the woods, and I love to smell them when I go outside!
The next time DH is home, we will be doing the fall butchering. But first we have to buy a deep freeze. The kitchen freezer is overflowing with garden goodies. We have 8 rabbits, 6 ducks, and 10 chickens (more or less, I haven't counted roosters, yet) heading to freezer camp so a new freezer will be a good investment!
I would love to know what you're doing to enjoy your fall! And don't forget to enter the paper free anniversary giveaway.
